Summertime blues: working all week just tryin' to earn a dollar

School is almost over and you don't have a job. April 12th rolled around and you missed the job fair at Jefferson Community & Technical College's downtown campus. Don't fret, here is what you missed:
UPS
United Parcel Service (UPS) has 1500 positions open for package handlers, sorters, fork lifters and warehouse administrators. UPS offers 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift part-time hours with 100% tuition reimbursement (Metropolitan College Program and Earn & Learn Program) and paid medical benefits. Students who are hired can earn up to a $500 bonus if they take at least six credit hours each semester their first year. Starting positions are $8.50/hr with $9 after 90 days.
UPS Supply Chain Solutions, a subsidiary of UPS, offers 1st and 2nd shift full-time hours with benefits. However, there is no tuition reimbursement.

Charter Communications
This company specializes in broadband and troubleshooting and also aids customers in setting up Email accounts. 300 positions are opening in the technical call center. Tuition assistance of up to $5250 (includes books, lab fees, and testing fees) is available along with life insurance, disability plans and an awesome 74% paid health plan. Due to internal promotions there are opportunities for advancement. The call center is the most modern with computer upgrades after six months of opening and an on-site workout facility. Interested candidates should have a background in customer service and/or technology (no degree necessary).

A list of open jobs will appear, choose "High Speed Internet Specialist." If you wish to apply, click apply at the bottom of the screen. You will be contacted for an over the phone interview and then possibly a second interview where you will sit in with a tech to determine if that is the career for you. Paid training available.
